This is part of a series of paintings I did in the summer while in Central Mexico. The summer rains wash the plants and enhance their colorings. Really studying the plants over the years has drawn me further in, drawing attention to all the wonderful traces of its growth - just like lines on a face.
This piece is painted in oils on a thin 4mm aluminum composite panel. It has an aluminum frame on the back that allows it to float off the wall for a very contemporary look. There is no need for framing. The piece weighs no more than 15lbs.
